My name is Rachel Henningsen, a budding creative who studied graphic design at Kean University. Why the term budding creative? Well, I’m constantly growing and learning more about the creative industry’s many branches. While my work is rooted in graphic design, I take inspiration from other specialties such as illustration, animation, interior design, and handicraft trades.
There is a process in gardening called budding, which is a grafting technique that removes a bud from one plant to attach to another plant for growth and strengthening purposes. This is how I feel when I learn from different mediums, as the various creative outlets inspire me to explore graphic design in ways I wouldn’t have considered otherwise, allowing my work to bloom.

Rachel Henningsen
My inspiration comes from an assortment of places, and one way that I fuel up is through my hobbies. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, reading, playing video games, taking care of my plants, sewing, and spending time outside in nature.
“Many eyes go through the meadow, but few see the flowers in it.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
One of the reasons I chose to base my branding around nature is because I love to see the beauty in the ordinary and to appreciate the smaller things in life. To me, a flower is the perfect representation of this ideal. Flowers are fragile and temporary but used to communicate kindness and love. They have strength despite their weakness and I find that duality to be beautiful.
While we’re on the topic of why I love nature…let me introduce you to some of my plants!
